The client wanted a garden to remind her of her travels. A contemporary garden with colour. This was a challenge as the property is Victorian and the garden also has a north facing wall. The materials chosen helps a traditional property sit comfortably with modern design.
A Moroccan inspired garden introduces colour into the garden through cobolt blue walls and yellow architraves and windows.
The garden was designed for multi-purpose use. The client can use it as a space to entertain but also a place to relax or work in.
The design includes a built in bbq finished with handmade, patterned tiles. Built in seating provides under-storage. This has a cantilevered pergola to give some privacy. The seating area is surrounded by raised planting borders and to one side a modern water feature.
A sunny side passage is used for herb sleeper beds. The plants are carefully considered to survive the UK weather but also give the feel of Mediterranean planting.
Modern Moroccan screens painted in yellow provide finishing touches. Simple lighting provides a warm cosy ambience.
The garden is designed to feel like another room of the house.
